Two weeks from today I will be on a crazy nice airplane on my way to the most beautiful country on the planet. I'll be eating up my favorite foods, spending time learning the language I so desperately want to speak, and meeting some incredible people. One in particular has my attention but I'll leave it at that for now. Come on, this is the internet...
In preparation (other than finding new uses for the term "living mirror") I have purchased every toiletry and do-hickey imaginable. I have submitted my application to Ewha (you remember my stint last year?) and wired the tuition fee. Actually, since it has been more than six months since my last class, I have to reapply as a new student. What this means is that I have to pay 40,000원 more and I am subject to a level test. As you'll recall (who am I talking to?) I finished level 1 of 6 and gained automatic entrance to level 2. Now that I have a chance to possibly skip 2 altogether and go to level 3, I'm jazzed. I hope I make a good impression in the interview. Last year, when asked to introduce myself in Korea, I responded "What? Why can't I use English?" keep in mind I was interviewing for a level in a Korean language school. Nice job Matthew.
Anyways, after a year of self study I would be happy to move up to level 3. I just hope I don't miss something remedial along the way. I know that whether I get into 2 or 3, I'll make the most of it and I'll be productive. It feels like it's been two years since last summer's program and I can't wait. What a great way to start out my summer...let alone new life in Korea.
Stateside, I have been really enjoying my time in my hometown. I've had the freedom to wake up whenever, do whatever, and eat whatever. I've only barely kept up my exercise program, but I suppose that was to be expected in a change of environment (especially such a comfortable and familiar one like my parent's house). This time is precious and I know I'll miss it.
I've been glued to my computer as of late. I've been writing a huge batch of entries for KC101. Not to mention a certain someone is getting some emails on a daily basis (the mystery must be killing you. no? oh well). I'm trying to write as much as I can now so that when I get over there, I can focus on studying... and 연꽃, too.
